What is the installation method of spiral bevel gearbox?

2025-07-18

As a precision transmission equipment, the installation quality of spiral bevel gearbox directly affects the running stability and service life. Following the standardized installation process is the key to the performance of the equipment.

Basic preparations need to be made before installation. First, check the flatness of the installation surface and measure it with a level. The flatness error must be controlled within 0.1mm/m. If necessary, level it with a gasket; clean the oil and burrs at the connection parts of the input shaft and output shaft, and check whether the keyway size matches the motor and load equipment. At the same time, confirm that the reducer model matches the installation environment to avoid direct installation without protection in places with high dust concentration and severe vibration.

The Core Installation Steps Require Precise Operation

The first step is to position and fix. Lift the reducer to the installation position (special lifting rings are required for the lifting point, and the housing is prohibited from being bundled). Fix it with high-strength bolts (grade 8.8 or above). The tightening torque is implemented according to the bolt specifications (such as the recommended torque of M12 bolts is 35-40N・m).

The second step is to align the shaft system. Use a dial indicator to measure the radial displacement (≤0.1mm) and axial tilt (≤0.05mm/m) of the input shaft and the motor shaft. The alignment accuracy of the output shaft and the load shaft must be controlled equally. Excessive alignment deviation will cause early failure of the bearing.

The third step is to connect the transmission components. The gear coupling clearance is reserved for 0.5-1mm. The chain or belt drive must ensure moderate tension to avoid additional radial force.

Post-installation inspection and debugging cannot be ignored. Manually rotate the reducer input shaft, there should be no sticking, abnormal noise, and the rotation flexibility should be uniform; inject the specified type of lubricating oil (the oil level needs to be to the center line of the oil mirror), and test the machine for 30 minutes without load before the first operation, and monitor whether the bearing temperature rise (≤40℃) and noise (≤85dB) are normal. If abnormal vibration or oil leakage is found, stop the machine to check the tightness of the bolts and the status of the seals.

Standardized installation of spiral bevel gearboxs can reduce the probability of failure by more than 30%, extend the service life of the equipment to more than 10 years, and provide basic guarantee for the stable operation of industrial transmission systems.
